The Itinerary

Eight days across one of India's least explored states — hidden viewpoints, ancient caves, a night under the stars, and a border few travellers ever reach.

01

Welcome to the Land of the Blue Mountains

Land at Lengpui Airport and drive into Aizawl, winding mountain roads and endless green hills offering the first glimpse of the journey ahead. After checking in, explore the capital: the magnificent Solomon's Temple, the lively Bara Bazar, and the everyday rhythm of Mizo life. As evening approaches, head to Durtlang Viewpoint before ending the day with sunset at Hangi Lunglen Tlang, overlooking layers of the Lushai Hills as the city lights come alive below.

🌙 Overnight: Aizawl
02

Into Mizoram's Hidden Wilderness

Leave the city behind and venture deeper into the hills. As the roads quieten and the forests thicken, arrive at Leisang Kurung — a short trek through the forest leads to a spectacular viewpoint over endless layers of green mountains, still unknown to most travellers outside Mizoram. Then explore Khuangchera Puk, a limestone cave steeped in Mizo folklore, believed to have once sheltered the legendary warrior Khuangchera. By evening, arrive at the campsite near Ailawng — bonfire, a hearty dinner, and a night beneath a sky full of stars.

🌙 Overnight: Ailawng Camp
03

Sunrise Above the Clouds

An early start takes you to Reiek Peak, timed to catch sunrise over the rolling Lushai Hills — on a clear day the panoramic views stretch for miles, one of Mizoram's most rewarding viewpoints. Afterwards, visit Reiek Heritage Village for a glimpse into traditional Mizo architecture and way of life, then continue the scenic drive through the mountains to Hmuifang, known for its peaceful meadows, pine forests and cool mountain air. By evening, arrive in Thenzawl, gateway to Mizoram's most spectacular waterfalls.

🌙 Overnight: Thenzawl
04

Chasing Mizoram's Hidden Waterfalls

A day built around two of Mizoram's most spectacular natural wonders. Begin at Vantawng Falls, the tallest waterfall in the state, cascading dramatically through dense forest. Then Tuirihiau Falls — one of the very few waterfalls in India where you can actually walk behind the curtain of water. If time permits, stop at the Thenzawl Handloom & Handicrafts Centre, where local artisans continue the centuries-old tradition of Mizo weaving. The day closes with a traditional Mizo dinner hosted by a local family.

🌙 Overnight: Thenzawl
05

Through the Heart of Mizoram

One of the most scenic drives of the trip, winding through rolling hills, picturesque villages and countless viewpoints on the way to Champhai, often called the Rice Bowl of Mizoram. On arrival, explore the beautiful valley, visit local vineyards and take in a peaceful sunset over the surrounding mountains — wide-open landscapes that feel like a completely different side of the state.

🌙 Overnight: Champhai
06

Where India Meets Myanmar

Visit Rih Dil, a serene heart-shaped lake just across the Myanmar border, considered sacred in Mizo folklore. Then Zokhawthar, the bustling border town where India meets Myanmar — a rare, unhurried blend of Mizo and Chin cultures, and a side of Northeast India very few travellers ever see. Return to Champhai for a relaxed final night in the valley town.

🌙 Overnight: Champhai
07

One Last Drive Through the Hills

Retrace the winding mountain roads back to Aizawl, with stops at picturesque viewpoints and charming villages along the way — one last chance to take in Mizoram's landscapes. By evening, check back into Aizawl for a relaxed final night with the group, looking back on a week's worth of memories.

🌙 Overnight: Aizawl
08

Until the Next Adventure

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a relaxed morning in Aizawl before the transfer to Lengpui Airport. From hidden waterfalls and mountain camps to border towns and unforgettable road trips — you'll carry with you stories from one of India's most unexplored states, and perhaps a reason to return.

Major networks work well in Aizawl and larger towns. Connectivity can become patchy in remote areas and during long drives — enjoy it as a chance to disconnect and soak in the experience.
We keep our groups small to ensure a more personal experience, better interactions and greater flexibility throughout the journey.
